Can't stop crying.

As a mom and an elementary school principal I can't stop crying thinking about the senseless events that happened in Connecticut today. I am watching my daughter at ballet right now and my heart breaks for parents who will. Ever be able to watch their child play in a game, perform in a recital or hug them goodnight again. I will definitely be hugging all of my children a little tighter tonight, and will be praying for the families that have lost loved ones.

I'm with you Delilah. I just can't stop thinking about all of those families who are directly effected by this. It is just horrifying and heartbreaking. Hug your children a bit tighter tonight and every night. You just never know when it will be the last time you will wrap your arms around them.

I am currently snuggled with my youngest under a blanket. He has fallen asleep, but I don't want to put him to bed.

Delilah I am not blessed with children but my heart bleeds for the families. I cannot believe this has even happened.

It's really creepy. I remember well when the Laurie Dann thing happened, not far from the school where my little one was. I hope this country starts doing what they do in the UK about guns. It's really time already.

All the more reason for us to draw closer and not become unhinged and hurt someone who had nothing to do with our issues.

Delilah as an aspiring teacher myself, I've had the opportunity to be complete observation hours and teach my lesson plans in quite a few schools and have loved every second of it without the thought of something so devasting ever occurring in an elementary school. However, I know how easy it is to gain access to these schools as well even with locked doors. Basically if you tell the person on the other side of the intercom who you are and why you're there, you are buzzed in. I think many other precautions can be taken to help prevent these sorts of things. Im having a hard time grasping anything having to do with this tradegy today. I pray for the victims, their families and friends, the children who may never be able to return and enjoy the fun, exciting, character buildling, experiences that come with a school setting. I can't imagine how it would feel to have my nieces gifts wrapped under the tree, knowing she wasn't ever coming home, and would never be able to open them. May God welcome them with the biggest gifts and angels lead them into the promise land. Sorry this was so long.

Hi Ssdawg, I think we are all struggling to deal with the loss of today. I will continue to pray for all the families, just feeling very sad tonight.

Delilah.
I never cry. Funerals. Today shook me up. I took a walk in the night and prayed..whatever works for you. Its still a terrible tragedy, tore me apart.
Best

I was a teacher of that age too. My mind just keeps trying to figure out how to protect the kids if I heard that going on elsewhere. An endless conundrum. it shakes my soul and sense of my mission to stay sober but I know we have to so we will. Big hugs to all.

Delilah1,

I know you to be a kind soul. There's nothing I can really say about the current incident other than to encourage people to seek help before it gets to the point that they kill innocent people... or their loved ones for that matter.

There is goodness in the world if you look for it. People have been noting the deterioration of society since there's been a society. Stay close to the people you love is all I can recommend. And don't hesitate to tell them you love them. Not in a clingy way of course, but some people go their whole lives without saying those 3 words. They should be said periodically, not excessively. Otherwise the smothering motif enters the fray.

I came of age in Iran. My parents let me walk the streets of any country unattended. Those days are gone.

Today has been sencless and will hurt those people and familys for a long time to come , but remember your children are some of the 63,000,000 children of the USA 0-14 years old .
They have been born in one of the greatest countries ever known in history and the chances of something bad like this happening to them is very .. very small .

Prayers to all ,

Bestwishes, M
