Angry Day 20 and fed up with it

Title says it all really - why can't I have a nice bottle of wine?.. I proved I can do it,it's Friday night for goodness sake!!!

Upset some close friends tonite by bailing on the Xmas get together tomorrow nite - would have been usual drunken antics and just no way I could have gone and not drank,no way at all :-( .. I hate alcohol !! Ruined my life !!

Just fed up with it - whoever invented wine ??.. Idiots !!!

Sorry need to vent!!

You are doing great! You seem to have taken the necessary measures to avoid the "trigger".

I am quite the opposite- I am facing a holiday party head-on and will be drinking coffee!

It took me a while to get over the thought I missing out.

Eventually I realised I'd been missing out for years anyway - passed out, ill, blacked out, loud obnoxious and not listening to anything but the sound of my own voice...

you're on the right track rainyengland - stick with it

D

Hi Rainy. It sounds like you did the right thing. Friends will understand, although I must admit that I don't bail until the day! I've got a friend's staff party to go to 2pm to whenever next week and its easier to not get any hassle until I get an 'emergency' on the day.

You will get through this. If you can't face a night out on water then it's best to avoid.

I'm feeling a bit ansty today after a meal out with friends last night. I'm going to watch a movie and plan my quiet night in.

On the plus I have woken up without a hangover for the 50th day in a row. It was hard in the first few days. Hang in there. You'll be 30 days by Christmas Eve. Keep your eye on the prize!

S x

Well done Rainy!

Some days can be pretty cruddy to begin with. I've found those days get fewer and fewer as time goes on, though at nine months they are still happening just occasionally.

It will be my first sober Christmas for quite some time as well. I'm enjoying the relaxing sober run-up. I'm off work from tomorrow and am looking forward to a real chill-out for a couple of weeks, rather than going back to work having had a week or more of over-indulgence.

I have a friend who speculated that if he could pick and choose, perhaps the Europeans introducing alcohol to the American continent was not a good idea. I don't know. Hadn't they discovered alcohol? They didn't know about horses. But certainly the introduction of alcohol didn't help things.
