Early Sobriey
Coming up on 30 days of sobriety after going out for about 9 months. The feelings and emotions are horrendous although I am doing everything that is recommended by my sponsor and friends in the program with long time sobriety. Still feel like I am haging on by my toenails.......

Congrats Sandra! Remember 30 days is still new (still a huge accomplishment) and your still coming out of the active stage. Emotions are likely to be all over the place and that is completely normal. Take it easy on yourself. Sounds like you are on the right track with your sponsor. As she takes you through the steps, some of those feelings should be resolved. Focus on today-it's the only one you've got.

Hi Sandra,
I am riddled with the same guilt and anxiety. I am considering spending Christmas alone. I really can't be around Christmas parties right now and expect to stay sober. I may just feign the flu over the holidays and watch movies. I will be fresh and ready to go after New Years, rather than hungover and fat.

I am with you sandra...will have 30 days on Thursday. Some days I feel great. Others are really tough. I've never worked so hard in my recovery and sounds like you are really committed too. Keep on keeping on!

I think it is quite healthy to be worried about picking up again. I listened to a lot of online stuff regarding relapse, I wanted to fill my head with information on avoiding relapses. I dont regard relapses lightly, it is harder each time to get back so they say.
I am sober 19 months now following the AA program and this site.
Hang in there and make sobriety your priority. I wish you all the best on this incredible journey
