Smile Tell me what you are grateful for...

Hello SR!

Ok so after about 3 days spent in an extremely negative state of mind, I got tired of feeling crappy and decided to try being more consciously grateful. It is my belief that the practice of gratitude really does make a positive difference in my daily life . So, with that in mind, here are 10 things I am thankful for :

1.) The people on SR - every single one of you has helped me get to this point
2.) I am more than 2 weeks clean from opiates and 5 years without a drink!!!
3.) My dad is sober today despite a pending divorce, health problems, financial issues... Go Dad I love you!!!
4.) I live in San Diego, which was always a dream for me growing up, love it
5.) I have a roof over my head and food to eat
6.) My boyfriend and I are getting along again and he is supportive
7.) AA meetings and step work is saving my ass because I am willing to DO THE WORK so yay for willingness.
8.) Acceptance, acceptance, acceptance... Learning the true meaning of the serenity prayer this time around
9.) God showing up to steer my boat as long as I do the rowing.
10.) learning to appreciate and bond with other sober women. Such a gift.

Ok your turn guys! Doesnt have to be 10 things just give me a few things you're grateful for. It can be small. Sometimes the simple things are the most important! :ghug3

I have a relative who is completely bedridden and dependent on other people. I am grateful that I can walk, dance and run (not very fast or far - but run nonetheless) and do not have to rely on others for my basic needs.

I am grateful for the people of SR. I have just begun my journey to change and was desperate for help. SR popped up on a google search yesterday and the people who make up SR are already helping me...much appreciation

It's so easy to get caught up in all the negative stuff and what isn't 'fixed' yet and easy to forget the things that have improved. Great thread BabyJane x

I'm grateful that I don't have puffy hands anymore I used to hate having puffy fingers!

I'm grateful that I have some happiness and hope in my life now.

When I was drinking I used to start desperately drinking when I got home after I had sworn I wouldn't do it again. I'd feel better for a few hours and then the remorse and panic would set in the drunker I got. I'd go to bed swearing that if I got through that night alive I would never drink again (because as melodramatic as that may sound I used to think my drinking would kill me).

Now I snuggle up in bed with a good book and am actually happy. No matter how s**t my day has been and how hard I am finding it to cope with everyday life stuff, I actually look forward to going to bed. It is such a dramatic change from how I was before.

Really I am just grateful for being sober. It is something I never thought I would ever be. And grateful to SR because I wouldn't be sober without this place either x

I'm grateful to have stopped the slide into alcoholism before it got too late.
Grateful to the folks here on SR who told me to be patient and to work at my recovery as hard as I worked on my drinking.
Grateful to be sober. Everything else lines up behind that.

That I stopped drinking, sought help and started recovery before hitting rock bottom.

I'm grateful for a safe and comfortable place to live. Sobriety and having my life back. My car. Pandora radio.

I'm grateful to be sober today, and the potential future that lies ahead.

My friends and family that have never given up on me.

The people here on Sober Recovery - old and new.

For BabyJane - for creating this wonderful thread forcing me to think positive, when my brain was dwelling on the negative.

I am grateful that I woke up sober today, and did an honest days work, without feeling hungover and tired.

Grateful that I have true friends today. That call if i am not around.

To this day all those bar friends have never called. Even though I have seen about 15 come into the rooms since I got sober..

I love this post, and the positive vibe it has created!!

I am grateful for:

1) 56 days sober, and a lifetime more to go.

2) My three kiddos, couldn't imagine life without them.

3) My husband (99% of the time)

4) My crazy dog and cat

5) Family and friends

6) A job that I love, even when it is stressful.

And of course each and every one of you on SR!! I love the fact that we all are here for support, encouragement, venting, and humor.
