I am new at this so I am going to introduce myself the best way I can. I am older than most of the bloggers. I guessing have problems because I refuse to grow up. I look forward to visiting with you.

I too suffered from that Peter Pan syndrome for quite a while. 69 next birthday.

I didn't have a particularly happy childhood but I did have a long one.

I was the same - wanted the party to continue until forever. In the end it wasn't fun anymore, though - just dangerous and sad.

Sorry I know your post wasnt for me, but it so resounded with me, so true, so loved my party times, I think I still drink for those times, thinking they will come back, but no matter what I drink it still does not give the same effect as it did, its just a meloncholy look back on times that were good, but somehow the years of drinking seems to have changed the fun and perspective into unreqited love for something that is no longer there. What did the alcohol change? and why is it not the same? is it because the more we drink the more we become tolerant, so the buzz we had before is dulled into depression and anxiety? sad I definitely agree
