Annoyed with drunk people

I know that a lot have people have put up with my drunk acts over the years... I know that I have hurt and pissed off a lot of people with this disease.

With that said, is it okay for me to be greatly annoyed with others when they are drunk and acting stupid? Observing drunk people can be entertaining at first but then I slowly get rather annoyed with them. I then also don't what to deal with these people when they are hungover or sober because all they talk about is how drunk they got and what stupid stuff they did.

Although I have had 3 relapses since September 9th, I consider myself sober. I don't feel above people who get drunk, I just don't want to associate with them. But being sober makes me feel differently about others when they are sober because I have seen them drunk and stupid.

I try to keep away from those situations, they are no longer attractive. And I try to remember that people drinking and using are simply unwell.

Yep I have always remembered robins don't fly with crows..

I'd have to be pissed with half the people in Nevada. I don't go in a casino anymore

I can relate. I remember when I quit smoking years ago, just the smell of it on someone's clothes made me gag. Now if I smell booze on someone's breath or body, it makes me anxious. I'm trying to avoid hanging out with people acting like I used to, but with the holidays it is going to become impossible.

It's not fun being in those situations. I try not to but when I am it just strengthens my resolve. I've saved myself from making a complete a$$ of myself (at best) and doing something so out of character that I cringe.

Hey Patty welcome to the world of Sober! Probably best to keep your distance as much as practical. If you say something this early in your sobriety you might get some sharp answers:)

I'm with MyCoolFitz - I don't dare set foot inside a casino. I had a gambling problem as well as a drinking problem. I relapsed on both, once in Vegas and once in Biloxi.

I also found out that to keep any lasting sobriety I had to change playgrounds (bars) and playmates (drinking buddies). As a result I rarely see anyone that I have ever seen drunk before, so I have avoided your issue.

Hi Patty,

I feel that I need to see/or be around my fair share of drunk people in any given month. As irritating as they may be they help me stay sober in a roundabout way. Normally when I return from the city late at night they are all on the bus. I just look, think wow they are having fun, remind myself I can't drink recreationally then laugh when they vomit and fall down stairs and then remind myself why I am sober to begin with.

Natom.

I can definitely relate to being annoyed w/drunk people. Thanksgiving and the funeral I attended a few weeks prior were perfect examples. I was absolutely fine with attending the events, drinking wasn't necessarily a huge part of them, but there were people still drinking.

Stayed at each event for about 6 hours. Both distinctly had one person drunker than most, becoming increasingly annoying as time went on. Funny thing is, that person used to be ME. As the night wore on, I remember both events hitting a "line" so to speak where I just say "alright, that's it for me, thanks I'm out, PEACE" and left. Felt kind of awkward to do so, but I felt it was time to go.

You are allowed to excuse yourself from situations that make you uncomfortable. :)

I oddly find myself tutting when someone is having an extra glass of wine! Oh the irony of it! Its weird how my relationship with drink and drinkers has changed. I just dont want to be a part of it anymore in any way.

Hmmm, there is a solution.

Don't hang out with those who annoy you.
