Well I'm new to this but here goes

It's midnight here. I haven't drank in couple of days. Only starting to realise I've had a problem. The withdrawals are quiet bad. feel lonely I'm a strong person but this is probably my first step I've ever taken in realizing I have a drinking problem

Welcome and good for you for recognizing you have a problem. You will find lots of support here.

Have you talked to your dr, because detoxing from alcohol can be dangerous?

Welcome to SR! I agree with the above posts about talking to a doctor to help you the first few days. I know finally admitting that I had a problem was the most difficult thing for me, I am glad I did though (as much as it hurt the pride of my type A personality!)

Read and post lots on here, you will find wonderful support and encouragement.

Hope you start to feel a little better today.

Welcome Aussiebenji!

You're definitely not alone. A lot of us share the same story (minus a few details) and we know what it's like trying to break free. I thought I'd never be able to give up alcohol. Finding this place was a godsend - it gave me my first glimmer of hope.

Glad you're here - Keep reading and posting!

As people have said, it DOES get better. MUCH better. For now, concentrate on gettin thru the physical pains. Talk to your doc or go to emergency room if it's getting too bad. Withdrawals are definitely not a walk in the park, nor are they a game to be played with.

Sorry I'm late to the party, but welcome Aussiebenji. You said you didn't realize there were so many in the same boat. I didn't either - and wish I'd reached out years before I did. Not feeling alone with the battle meant everything to me, and being here worked miracles.

Please keep posting and sharing your thoughts. You'll find it relieves the anxiety.

We are in the same boat. And it gets awfully crowded in here sometimes! LOL.

Welcome, and sleep is a great idea.
