Pep in my step

I woke up this morning with a spring in my step. Some might say lite in the loafers but we aren't going there.

My first thought when my mind cleared was "thank you for my sober day yesterday. And thank for for today".

Planning on making it a holiday weekend.

Going to buy myself gifts.

Put up the tree.

Get new stuff for the tree.

Hook up an outlet outside so I can light the house. I can do electric when I have to. We shall see. ZzaAaP

Heading to NYC to a new place for lunch Saturday. I see these restaurants shown on TV and want to try them.

The words I tell myself that have been helpful is "ken, treat yourself right."

When I say that it helps gage choices.

Have a great Friday and weekend everyone. I will be here to encourage and be encouraged!

LOL Ken glad you are feelng upbeat and ready to create some holiday magic. I think in some ways this season helps because it gives us something fun to do like decorating, or attending holiday events, or cooking something new. I know it can also be miserable for many, but I do think the way we approach it does color how it turns out for us. I believe that for most of life-your expectations often come true whether they are good or bad.

If you're someone that hates the holidays embrace it and hate them 100% lol Hibernate, take naps, ignore the world and the commercials, enjoy your alone time and do whatever you want to do. If you're someone that celebrates follow Ken's lead and make things festive.

Ken is so right about treating yourself right. That makes many of us feel selfish but we treated ourselves wrong for so long we deserve a little positive attention for a change.

Hey FF

I made a decision this year to really embrace the holidays. I am not a fan per se but I have had so many in the recent past marred by drug use and drinking. To help flush out those feeling of gloom I am running in the opposite direction.

There's a lot that bugs me but that not for me to worry about.

Treating myself right is my gift this year. That's in every way I can. From small things like getting the house festive... To bigger things.... Like a little self forgiveness.

It's amazing how much self forgiveness you can stuff in a stocking. Lol

How ever we perceive the holidays treating ourself right rises above all ways we celebrate.

And celebrate soberly.
