New friends in the struggle
I am sending my 1st post to 'friends' in the struggle. I live in a very rural area and difficult to get to F2F meetings and it has been a lonely road 'hiding in the depths of guilt' believing I am a master of deceit destroying myself in the process as what I have thought being a functional binge drinker / alcoholic. I even refuse drinks in public but having my wine on my own.

Collywolly, that was me. In my later years of drinking, I never drank in public - 1. I had so many bad experiences before (jobs ruined, etc.) and 2. Its not fun when you are focused on refilling your glass so often in front of others. I would leave as early as possible then go home to my "own" party.
I'm newly in a very rural area too - to help my mother (I never lived here before) and I can't go to F2F meetings either.
TRUTHFULLY, SR Has done more for me in the last month than F2F ever did. AA, IOP, etc. is great, and I did learn from those before, but I always felt so broken at meetings/groups. SR does not judge, there are many insightful posts and responses, it's open 24/7, and everything is there on the screen in black and white (I can reread a comment I posted in the past to remind myself of where I've been-can't do that at a F2F).
Stay here, read a lot and get to know us.
