It really depends on where you live. I live in Ontario, Canada, and the laws here regarding impaired driving recentlyy got a lot harsher.
I spent overnight in a drunk tank once. It was not pleasant.

Your posts already sound a lot calmer. Books, meditation, and lots of time to think about this as one of life's little speed bumps and a bright and happy future!!!

Well I did do a special meditation for you and your situation specifically so lets see if any of this Buddhist stuff works.

You were one of the first people here that reached out to me. Your kind words touched me deeply. I am hoping for the best for you. It sounds as if jail would be horrendous for you. I hope you have a kind judge that can hear who you really are.

Thanks Fitz! I appreciate it very much. Do you recommend any books to get started on a beginner Buddhist path? I know a little but would like to expand my horizons on the subject...and with jail in the picture, now seems like a good time!

Court yesterday, aftermath. Remained sober and stuck to my plan, though I am embarressed to admit I did NOTHING regarding self care. Not even basic hygiene. That is hard for a girl to admit. So Im gonna fix that today...I feel disgusting.

Brushed teeth, washed face, fixed hair, little make up...then I was out the door to see my addictions counsellor.

Stephan Bachelor.

Buddhism without beliefs.

Confessions of a Buddhist atheist.

Those two are my favourite and the first one especially well researched using the Pali canon.

The Pali canon is something to Google.

I have seen people in the UK with serious drug smuggling charges get off prison sentences when they went into inpatient treatment. The courts love a 'changing my life' bit. You may get a fine or probation or whatever but it is better than being a cell. I would say, bearing in mind I am not a professional, that the odds are in your favour.

Natom.

Thanks Xune and Natom!
I will check out those books. And yeah, I really dont think I could do anymore to help my recovery....but Im always open to more! My addictions counsellor was pleased . Also, I figured out I can continue a weeky local follow-up program for 9 monthes after my inpatient program....so I was pleased to find that out.
