Smile Intro

Hello everyone!
Attempting once again to kick my pain killer habit.
I wish everyone well and would like to thank you for all the info on this site.

Almost 8 years ago while working out, I had a total blowout in my neck. The disks between 5 and 6 gone. Severe pain lasted almost 3 months. I've been chasing that initial high ( relief ) I experienced every since.

Game plan:
Tell my dealers to take a hike
Get on subs tomorrow to to ease the withdrawals
Visit a rehab specialist ( Weds 9:15 )
Find and attend meetings in my area.
Follow advice of the professionals.

I've only gone 20 days (in a row) not using in the last 7 years. I average one to two weeks not using in all my previous attempts.

I need to address my depression/anxiety & cravings in order to beat this.

This is my first post about my embarrassing addiction...

I know from the posts I've read that i'm in for a rough ride.
Also, thanks to the posts I've read I do have hope!

Here we go...
Ken

Welcome Ken!

I've felt that shame, too. I wanted to think I was stronger/smarter than my addiction to alcohol, but I finally just gave up and said "Help!" (smartest thing I've ever done. ) The support here helped me turn my life around.

You've got some really solid action plans, which is great. Get all the support/help you need and know that things will get better with each sober day. Be good to yourself and keep reading/posting! Glad you're here!

(Check out the Substance Abuse forum here, too - lots of support there as well).
