A New Life.

Almost 7 months sober, and there's a billion things that are different(and not so different) about my life.

Just this morning, I woke up around 7am to make coffee, brush my teeth, and get dressed.
I was at a friend's house by 8 to watch her 9 month old baby.
He's adorbs. And I was fully present to make him laugh, and talk with him, and change his filth nasty diaper. (seriously, that kid is gross.)

I came home and while I wait for a cheesecake to bake in the oven, I'm coloring my hair, and then I'm off to work.

These are all little things. Life things. Boring, and exciting at the same time.

I am doing them without a hangover.
I am doing them without planning my next drink.
I don't feel hopeless, or restless.

I just wanted to say how grateful I am that I woke up one day, and stopped doing what I was doing to myself, and those around me.

And thanks to all of you for keeping me reminded on a daily basis why I am not a drinker any more.

This was excellent and my favorite part was you "being present" for someone else. I've noticed one of my favorite remedies for my own ego and past transgressions is being present for anyone, anytime now. This whole sobriety thing isn't just about us, it's about life and those who share it with us.

Good luck to you!

Being present is it!

Life is about connection with other people.

Alcohol made that impossible for me.. Real connection, anyway(on my end).

Doing what normal people do and having human interaction is incredible. This was impossible when I was drinking

It is nice to just be able to do normal things without hangovers or thinking about that next drink. Good for you on seven months! I am on Day 36 and look forward to getting to where you are.

I am inspired and envious of your post. I would give my right arm to be seven months sober. Having trouble with seven days...good for you! Keep it up.
