I don't miss _______ when I was drinking alcohol

I don't miss

not knowing how I got where I was when I woke up
the bruises and scrapes on my legs from falling down drunk
feeling like I could have a heart attack any given moment

Just a few of the numerous things I don't miss...how about everyone else?

I don't miss self-pity when I was drinking alcohol.

I agree with you...I always felt like a victim when I was drinking. Like boo-hoo my life is so hard. Really skews your concept of reality.

The hangovers
Wondering how I got home
Being broke
hating myself
the shame next day
hiding out in my room
drunk text/calls
falling over
breaking things
passin out with a drink in my hand
getting in stupid fights
trying to hide all the empty cans from my fam
run ins with the cops
drugs to go along with drinking

Im sure theres more but thats it for now. Grateful to be sober!

I don't miss passing out before I could even tuck my kids in bed,
acting a fool infront of family and friends,
hiding my breath,
doing things I so badly regret,
feeling like crap...

I don't miss acting like a total fool in front of my family! I yelled at my parents in front of tons of people at a food/wine festival. Needless to say, I will be staying away from those. I wish you all the best in your recovery

Yes, all of these, and I'd add:

the mental fog
feeling like I can barely put together a sentence, like I've lost my sense of humor and personality
Always trying to make it see like I haven't been drinking
Thinking people can't tell when I'm drunk but worried that they still can (and surely they can)
Feeling like all I want out of life is another drink, waiting for the next drink
The sense of panic that would set it when I knew I'd be in for a long time when I wouldn't be able to drink
Feeling panicky and confused and unproductive

awful.

Yes definitly Elderine, the panic.. I can relate and all I looked forward to was getting that next buzz, not spending time with my kids or more important things.. Look forward with confidence!!

I don't miss:

The financial troubles
The strained relationships
The "I'm sorry"
The false promises, though I really did mean them at the time
The hangovers
The FEAR

I don't miss the reckless behavior when I was drinking alcohol. I put a great many of people in danger when I was a chronic drinking driver .

Gratefully I have put a stop to that and every other behavior that include alcohol/drugs.

The fear of getting in some kind of trouble. Will be so glad to put that behind me after I have a few weeks sober. Still scared of a fallout from my last session. Also don't miss bloating and heartburn and shame and hiding and worry and money spent.

I don't miss lying and making excuses all the time. And I don't miss the horrible hangovers.

I don't miss always trying to hide it, buying pops at a drive thru, only to dump them out so I could put my other drink in the cup....always worrying if I was gonna get arrested...that was shameful on my part.....

the gagging on my toothbrush everymorning
the tight stomach and headache till noon
the overwhelming urge to drink everyday at 4 pm
driving drunk with my kids and the worry about being pulled over
having to read with only one eye open
the 1000+ calories devoted to alcohol every day
the subsequent weight gain that followed over the past 20 years
my kids being afraid to drink out of mommy's glass
not being able to email people at night for fear of saying something stupid

The panic, fear, shame & anxiety after a blackout
The sweating & heart palpitations I got randomly throughout the day
The internal argument each day whether to go for a drink or not
The money peed up the wall
The bloated face, hands & ankles!

After only two days not drinking I noticed my face was amazingly less bloated. Overall my whole body was less bloated. This gave me a lot of hope for getting back into shape. I weighed 120 pounds when I started drinking, hard to run every morning when you spent most of the night puking or not even remembering what the hell happened. I reached 166 lbs after probably 1600 calories a day devoted to booze. Thankfully I finally realized I didn't want to stop at 200 lbs or something even worse. All the best to you!

Yup,after a lifetime as the skinny girl, I have gained a ton. Can't wait to see it go. After four days I already have looser pants and look better.
