Would you believe that so many have
been exactly where you are and would give
anything to have some sort of support
system to be with them, guide them and
help them learn to stay sober or clean one
day at a time for long lengths of time.
Whether it is here online or sitting in a
program of recovery meeting, help is always
available so you never ever have to be alone.
I began my recovery 22 yrs ago when family
stepped in with an intervention placing me in
the hands of those in rehab to teach me about
my alcoholism and its affects on those around
me. For 28 days I was handed the knowledge
and tools of a recovery program to incorperate
in my everyday affairs to build a strong foundation
to live my life upon each day.
There are promises stated in the Big Book of
Alcoholics Anonymous that we can recieve as
gifts in recovery when following or living the steps
and principles handed down to us as we learn to
stay sober each day at a time.
I listened and absorbed all I could from others
who learned to stay sober themselves for long
periods of time because I wanted so much to
have what they had. That happiness and freedom
they were experiencing in sobriety without alcohol
or drugs. All I had to begin with was willingness
to go that extra mile to not drink. To do the next
best thing to not drink.
Grab a hold of the ones that inspire you and can
carry you, so to speak, thru recovery until you can
stand on your own. Arm yourself with the knowledge
and wisdom of what life was like before, during and
after your drinking career, then pass it on to others
that are still struggling with addiction.
