Major Panic/Anxiety
Major Panic/Anxiety
I have bitten my nails down so far it hurts....I feel outta control anxious, not sure I can do this I should be happy ...right? I am one of those people who likes to self sabotage , why am I.like this? Not going to drink but have tried everything to calm down....ughhh!!
Sorry you're having a rough spot right now. Can you identify the thoughts behind your anxiety? My experience is that I tend to overwhelm myself by dwelling on the negative and/or taking on too much. I had to figure out a way to let go of stuff if I wanted to stay sober (and sane)..... I found that mindfulness really helped, and just trying to stay in the moment.
If it's more than just a bad day or two, you might want to think about talking to someone, too. Just don't drink....... it only adds to our misery. I hope you feel better!

First thought: why should you be happy? I am working on accepting my feelings and not judging myself. It is normal to not always be happy. I tell myself it's ok. Just feel what you feel.
Second thought: how long have you been sober? Anxiety is a typical part of PAWS; it's to be expected. What coping techniques have you tried to deal with it? I find meditation and breathing to be somewhat helpful. Others exercise. Or sometimes dealing with what is making me anxious helps. For ex., I get anxious when I have a lot to do. Sometimes, just making a list gets it out of my mind and onto paper. It is my natural instinct (and perhaps talent) to completely put obligations out of my mind. Unfortunately, that doesn't make them go away and contributes to my negative feelings.
Sooo...take a moment, try to deep breathe, and try to do one thing to alleviate the anxiety.

Lola,
Drinking will only make it worse and you'll be so disappointed tomorrow. You mentioned you had a stressful day at work the other day, I believe a patient died? Do you think that is catching up with you?
You're almost through today.....can you go to bed early? The weather is going to be beautiful this week end.....get some fresh air and exercise....it might help
