...although it's free, you have to safe guard it.

Maintaining sobriety everyday teaches me that having a rewarding life doesn't just "happen" to a select group of "lucky" people.

It happens by and large to those who work at it, every day.

Maintaining sobriety everyday teaches me that I am going to have to tolerate feeling my feelings and pain as I am doing right now. What doesn't make us drink makes us stronger, right? Gosh I hope so cause this hurts.

Maintaining sobriety every day teaches me that:
even though sometimes it seems like nothing's happening, when something does happen, I can rise to the occasion effortlessly without the need to hide, mask, or divert from any signs of boozing it up.

Maintaining sobriety every day teaches me that:

I really was an obnoxious buffoon and there's no two ways about it. It's nice to know I am now obnoxious by choice and not by default.

Maintaining sobriety each day teaches me that, if I do my part, the Universe will do theirs. But I have to give them something to work with and meet them halfway.

Maintaining. Sobriety teaches me that if I can make and sustain this change, then I can make other key changes also... as long as I persist with patience and dogged determination.

If I keep maintaining sobriety as my primary goal then most other things seem to fall in behind.

Maintaining sobriety everyday teaches me that I can feel my feelings
and not be so afraid that I have to numb then before I even know what they are.

maintaining sobriety teaches me that if I lay my head down at the end of a rough day and I'm sober then I have accomplished what I thought impossible a year ago

Maintaining sobriety every day teaches me to look at everyone and everything the way it is and not the way I wish it was.
And that, teaches me to change things, rather then hide.
And that teaches me more is in my control then I thought.
And that teaches me to have courage.

Maintaining sobriety every day teaches me I am capable of much greater things than I ever knew possible when I was drinking every day.

I won't give it away

What has sobriety maintenance taught you?[/QUOTE]

I realize in sobriety that my peace is priceless and I am not willing to give it up for anything. So if you need to be right, you be right! You need to be first , be first. You wanna talk about me go ahead talk about me. You want my purse? It's yours. It's just not all that important to me as my peace of mind. You can take anything away from me today but my peace of mind cuz I protect it fiercely. I don't need to be right today, it's just not that important. And when you taste peace you will not be willing to give it up either.
