Obama is on TV and radio right now issuing an alarm. PLEASE evacuate is asked. Don't put others in danger if they have to attempt rescues.

I'm in NYC. It is very windy, and the rivers are starting to break their banks, especially in lower manhattan. I live near the east river. I took this pic an hour ago. During Irene, this is as high as the river got, but we still haven't had the biggest surge.

Be safe everyone.

I am in Scituate, Ma and the wind is picking up. All our roads on the shore are flooded. I am really getting scared for my family.

I'm 20 minutes from DC. Winds are just picking up at 1:16 pm. I think I shall go take a nap. The news people are hyping it (as they should) and the pics on facebook of Atlantic City, OC, MD, and NC are scary. Piers floating away, homes almost (or are) fully covered with water. This is so not fun to endure.

Peace and prayers to all!

two phone batteries, laptop will only last 11 minutes if there is no power. One day I'll be able to upgrade this dinosaur.

It won't really get to the DC area until after 8 tonight.

I live in De, stuck at work in Philly just waiting for all hell to break loose. It looks like I'm going to be very busy and not getting much sleep this week. It's nice to have a site like this to keep me grounded.

They shut down the T =( I don't get my Dunkin's Coffee today. WHAT'S A GIRL TO DO. I NEED IT! I considered walking because it's only like one stop away but since I have Mono that would probably be an even worse idea then if I were healthy haha.
But it's not so bad yet in Boston just very windy, and rainy but they've shut down EVERYTHING so people are mostly staying inside. Hope everyone else is safe especially anyone on the coast. I know down cape is getting it wicked bad I have a friend who live out there but luckily not on the water.

About a dozen miles north of Baltimore. Wind continues to pick up, basement is dry so far, but I'm obsessing over keeping the drain clean. LOVE the sound of the sump pumping, which it is doing every minute or two.

Even if we do lose stuff, doesn't matter to me so long as my kids are ok.

Sending heartfelt prayers to those of you closer to the ocean. Move inland, would ya please?
