Hello

Just wanted to introduce myself - I am brand new at this. I will probably just browse around a little as I am sure I don't have any new questions that haven't already been asked a thousand times.

I am here because I can't seem to get my drinking under control. It's hard to even admit that via typing it on a keyboard. I have never reached out for help before so I guess this is my first step in that direction.

Hello BigSky! We're happy to answer any questions, no matter how often they're asked. We're so happy you've joined us. This is a wonderful place where you're never alone - we all understand you and what you're going through.

It's hard to take that first step, but you'll feel relieved now that you've done it. Keep on reading and posting.

Welcome BigSkyBlues! Congrats on having the guts to reach out, it's not easy.
I'm glad you found SR because it's here 24/7 and filled with wonderful people who are facing the same struggles you are. You only see repetitive questions because we are all going through it and no one minds. It helps to talk about all of it, the good and the bad.

You may find that it's easier to stop than to try to control it. That's what happened to me. You don't have to commit to forever at the beginning, just commit to not drinking that day (or hour, or minute) and keep going.
