Motivational Movies

I'm not much of a movie person, but I've read some comments about "When a man loves a woman" was inspirational and helped keep people sober. Any other movies out there?

I have not seen many movies but found the following books motivational:
Unwasted by Sacha Scoblic
Drinking: A Love Story by Caroline Knapp
Life of the Party by Becky Tirabassi (you can read this one online)

Sorry, I don't know many motivational movies!

I love movies, being sober you can enjoy them so much more! They helped me tremendously during times that I just need to step out of my mind. As a big fan of action movies, I recently watched Jet Li's fearless. He was pretty bad with the booze in it, did some things that were wrong, and changed a lot throughout the movie. I found it inspirational, its subtitled though.

Thanks CB! I found Life of a Party. I'll check it out. BDH, I meant movies about alcoholics like "Leaving Las Vegas".

Also when I did inpatient it was the weekend and during one of the groups the counselor decided to let us watch a movie. Apocalypto. The movie was about basically conquering your fear. I enjoyed watching it, and when you seen the message in it, it was even better.

I searched "Movies" 'cause I'm a huge movie buff and this thread came up. A really good movie is "28 Days". It's with Sandra Bullock and Viggo Mortensen and they spend 28 Days in Rehab. It's funny, sad, motivating.

The pursuit of happyness is based on a true story, pretty amazing.

Maybe I'm twisted, but I like the theories behind Tyler durden in Fight Club. here's a sample. https://vimeo.com/40567192

Fight Club is one of my all-time favs. People think it's about fighting and it really has nothing to do with fighting. A lot of the movie is about self acceptance.

I really like drugstore cowboy. He does get clean at the end. Nice cameo by William Burroughs too.

One movie that always motivates me is Men of Honor with Cuba Gooding Jr. I love the acting and just watching the fight in him during the movie (based on a true story) and the obstacles he had to go through to get to the point he got was very motivational.

In 28 Days, (which I forgot I own and will now be watching tonight - thanks!), the scene that always gets me is when she is waiting outside the office and picking at the carpet and wants to stay in the treatment program and she tells the counselor " I can't breathe, a person should be able to just breathe right? I can't breathe...." She plays that scene so well - the anguish on her face gets me every time.

Motivational if you don't want to end up like the characters - Barfly (Mickey Rourke, Fay Dunaway) and Ironweed (Jack Nicholson. Meryl Streep), and Arthur (Dudley Moore, Liza Minneli). All movies I was infatuated with in my early youth, but really should have paid more attention to consequences in the stories told.
