Wow! please post your story again in a thread devoted to your experience. Lots of folks need to hear it from another newbie trying, instead of one of us long timers. I felt the same at my first couple of meetings with my first and last home group. It got even better with time. Granted I didn't use AA long term but that is the beauty of it. Fanatics aside they are the best immediate local face to face help everywhere. Then folks get tapped into local resources other than AA too. Then there will be medium term like me, and long termers who make a lifestyle of it. That is the great thing about it, there is something for everyone.

Even if it is not for one or another, they never know until they drop in for a meeting or ten. It is not for everyone, but a great start for anyone.

You are making all the same initial moves I did. If inside this is about a definite decision to drop alcohol from your life you will likely make it.
