It took me a while until I was comfortable with feeling an urge and just letting it be and not letting that urge control what I did. Urges come and go. It is very hard at first. As others have suggested, you might want to find a meeting (AA/NA, SMART, SOS . . .) Being around others that were experiencing what I was sure helped me.
