Well that was dumb

So yesterday was a pretty horrible day at work. I didn't use my coping skills, didn't call anyone, didn't pray and I ended up drinking. I was so close to having a month under my belt.

So I was pretty hard on myself this morning and had to deal with an angry wife and hangover today. However, it was definitely a learning experience. It reinforced why I want to get rid of alcohol all together. I fell right back into bad habits. it didn't make me feel any better. I didn't really even like it when I was drinking and today I have no desire to drink. Today I am sober and I'm thankful for that. Tomorrow I head out of town for a job interview Friday. In a way I'm glad I drank at home before this trip because I think it will make it easier to deal with any temptations out there. Expect to see me in here frequently in the next few days!

I had a few of those valuable lessons before I finally got it. I hope you won't put yourself through any more torment. You know what has to be done, and you sound ready! Glad you've come to this conclusion.

Business trips are hard. Good luck staying clear of temptation and good luck on your interview.

Its all a learning experience and I am glad to hear that it wasn't that great of an experience and that you are back on track.

It sounds like you are in AA. It might be a good idea to find an AA meeting in whatever town you are going to. Going to an AA meeting instead of drinking in a hotel room would make your interview go better. Regardless of how your interview turns out, it would be something positive to tell your wife. If your wife is anything like mine, right now she does not trust you. Having something positive to report can't hurt.

Welcome back Mescal - I think as long as we can learn from our mistakes you can get some good from it
