wino Wednesday is now just whiney Wednesday.....

I really just wanna go do my routine....stop at store..get my drink, get the kid from school, get her settled, homework done and such.....and then numb myself from whatever it is my subconscious thinks needs numbing.....sigh....and so the battle begins in 5, 4, 3, 2.......

Bad idea. Your routine is what brought you to sr, may I suggest that instead of mourning it, be grateful for what you can do without that routine? I have found myself romanticizing the first drink. Oh what joy it brought to me. Relax, unwind, etc. then came the rest to follow. What sorrow those brought. Blackouts, heart break and complete disregard. I loath those moments. I never want to revisit those days. I have changed my routine. I had to, or this disease would kill me. Do what you have to do, to get THROUGH this. Unfortunately, we can't detour, because if we do, we have a lot to lose. Best wishes!

Hey Lola, I had to laugh when I saw "wino Wednesday". I always called it "Wasted Wednesday".

I also had Toasted Tuesday, Thirsty Thursday, and Blitzkrieg Friday (cuz that was an excuse to drink even more!)

Anyway - great job today. You aren't alone - I'm tapering & struggling a LOT today too.

And thanks for the giggle.

- Sparky

you made me laugh with the fb comment...I have been doing the same thing LOL I also keep busy by watching movies, reading recovery stuff online and looking into future goals---be it my dream living room furniture or a degree. I just realized that I drove home today without even thinking about stopping at the liquor store. I read somewhere that it takes 21 days to break a habit. Don't know how true that is but today is day 22 for me LOL So hang in there...stalk the web and do something fun with your daughter. You are doing great!

Lola - LMAO!!! I can't remember what I called Mondays (big surprise there). Ah, yes, tacos - or any Mexican food - was always an excuse for Patron.

I think our food is gonna be tasting better.. cuz our tongues won't be numb.

Welcome lilgolden!
Changing routines was helpful for me. For awhile, I couldn't be in the house at 4 pm, when I usually opened a bottle of wine. I took long walks, ran errands etc. The library sounds like a good move. I live in the Cincinnati area, and we have a great library system

There is a wonderful life if you stay sober. It is not always exciting because so much of the drama, shame, guilt, fear, illness, insanity and anger are gone. What happens is slowly but surely you start recognizing the beauty of the moment. Something like just watching your child. Nothing more nothing less or the smell of a fall day. These little things to me are more exciting and entertaining than drinking ever was.

I have found a new freedom and a new happiness.

Hi lilgolden Glad to see you have a sense of humor. It helps to get through the early days.

Honestly, things do get better. You won't feel anxious and uncomfortable forever. I drank my whole life and never imagined I could do without it. Now I realize what a bore I had become, and how pointless life was when all I did was get numb to face the day. So sad.
