New Today
Hi everyone, I am new to these pages today. I hope to move away from alcohol once and for all. It has me all over the place and my family also. I would drink about 4 times a week and that would be always to get drunk never to enjoy i believe, because if it was then one glass of wine would be enough not two bottles: "TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE" I hope and pray that this time I can do this. Have tried lots of times but never managed to get there. I think the Angles sent me here today.
Thank you
Thank you
Welcome, Black! I have also tried lots of times to stay sober. This time could be the one that sticks. You'll hear lots of people on SR ask "what are you going to do differently?" Have a plan and follow it. And hang around here for good support.

Welcome to SR Black....You know why you hear that a lot?....Because it's a great question....I tried many times quitting on my own....And this alcoholic couldn't do it.....I needed some support from people like me and a program that's worked for millions of people....For me that was AA....Have you tried that yet?

Hello Black and welcome. I am new here too.
I would only drink once or twice a week, usually
at the weekend, but it would always turn into
a huge binge, followed by a blackout and huge shame
and embarrassment the following day. I too drink to get
as drunk as possible, there is no happy
medium. Sociable drinking is not something I
understand, I will drink until I can't stand up. So stopping
altogether is the solution for me. I believe I can do it,
I have already begin making plans for activities over the next
few weekends that don't involve alcohol. I know it willbe tough, but
I just keep thinking when I get to a fortnight sober, a
month etc how good it's going to feel.
