Hi - First Post
Hi - First Post
Hi everyone - I've been here reading & learning a lot, thought I'd take that first step & introduce myself.
I've been a binge drinker for about 30 years (I'm 46 now), and a daily drinker for about 2 years.
I've been taking sleeping pills / benzos / benadryl every night as well (to sleep.) I know I'm playing a dangerous game.
I am a 2x cancer survivor (2008 and 2010), and have a host chronic physical illnesses - heart arrythmia, fibro, dysautonomia, etc. I am a wreck both physically and emotionally.
You would never know any of the above by looking at me. Nobody does.
I'm planning to go to my first AA meeting on Monday & am hoping it will be a positive experience. I just need to get myself there.
Guess that's all for now - I'm glad I found SR.

Saving the best for last ! Yes, just show up and listen to the oldtimers. They will guide/teach you.
You will be amazed how many physical/emotional symptoms abate as we grow in recovery.
All the best.

Hi. Welcome to SR. Hang out here with these guys and gals and you will have another huge support structure to add to your AA meetings to help you through this. These guys have been very beneficial to me and I know they will be for you too.

wow, another gal who knows about 30 yrs of drinking.... im 47 so it's been 31yrs for me and i binge drink and feel a physical wreck too. i don't think that anyone knows about me either (which may or may not be true) i do know that a lot of people would be surprised that is for sure.

Morning. Welcome and I too love your screen name! Sounds like a character in a children's book. Congrats on your decision to check out an AA meeting. It has saved my life in more ways than one. SR is immensly helpful too. It's always here when you need it.
