Day 1

Went to the ER this morning to get a full check up. Liver enzymes quite high but everything else kosher. The doctor felt safe in saying I could have a safe detox at home based on this and my etOH history. They put a ton of fluid in me and gave me scrips for Librium and I forgot the other one's name. I went home and slept for 2 hours (they also put some ativan in the iv.). Just took the librium and feel fine no anxiety at all, just a bit of dizziness when I stand (I've barely eaten for two days). Anyway, wish me luck all on day 1! I have absolutely zero cravings after all the mess that alcohol has made on my life. Going to go take another nap instead

Good work q.. One day at a time, will be a bit rough early on but promise it'll get better. Being sober is the best thing that I've ever done.

Welcome to the group. You took a big step. We all had to do the same thing, so you will find lots of support, understanding and advice based on our experience. Every story is different, but we all had to start with day 1.

Keep posting on here and let us know how you're doing.

I slept a lot in my detox...Didn't eat a whole lot either...And after tapering down the Librium which I took for five days...I was still a little light headed a few days after that. I'd say what you are going through sounds pretty normal....I've seen people here detoxing on there own...For whatever reason....Be thankful you aren't going through that. Congrats on day one....You don't have to go through this again you know?

Well done on the detox! I detoxed on my own in January and it was HELL and really foolish, so I am glad you saw a doctor. Fingers crossed and hope you do well

looks like I have enough for ten days but I have no intention to take them that long! They make me dizzy. But my sleep has been awesome.

I'm not worried about my first twelve step once I am feeling better. I went for a month last year, just didn't care for it. I am going to set up some outpatient work instead that will be smaller groups in a quiet surrounding.
