Back from Rehab
Back from Rehab
I have missed all of you!
I finally realized that I couldn't keep on the way I was going ... detoxing, getting sober for awhile, then going right back on the merry-go-round. I finally ended up in the hospital on September 4th with a BAC of .51 ... it's a miracle that I'm not dead, although I came very, very close. That was enough. I finally realized (duh!) that if I didn't quit drinking, I was going to die. That was the honest truth.
So I checked into rehab on September 7th and will have 30 days this Friday. I'm so glad I went - it was the best experience of my life.
I finally have a solid program to work and am throwing myself into it 1000%. It feels wonderful. I finally feel free.
Anyway, just wanted to check in with all of you and let you know I'm still alive ... thank God.
Hope all of you are doing well!! Missed ya!!

I'm doing 90 AA meetings or more in 90 days, working the steps, meeting with my sponsor, going to a counselor, and attending aftercare 4 days a week. Staying busy, getting back into school, picking up some new hobbies. I also told my alcoholic husband to move out until after the first of the year - then we will reevaluate whether or not we should stay together.
I think it will work well.

DS:
Congratulations and good to hear you sounding so positive.
Also good to read your plan.
How would you evaluate your rehab treatment program in terms of preparing you for continued sobriety once out of the inpatient program?

It was fantastic. Lots of groups, workshops, individual counseling, and assignments. I gained a lot of insight into myself, which I really needed. And the "safe" environment of being inpatient was really, really helpful. Plus, I made a lot of friends there and we are all staying in touch with each other and giving each other support and encouragement. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

AA saved my life so I am a huge fan. Just do what you need to do a day at a time and listen to the old timers they know what they are doing.
Welcome to sobriety you deserve it
