Vall, my dad emigrated to the US from Lewisham in 1949. He was born in Huddersfield. He stayed a subject to the crown.and left us when I was six. I recently found my long lost brother from his second marriage and an Auntie Vall in the UK. They were as excited to find me as I them. All good.
For the rest, my Brit dad was in the USAF, as I later was, and we have lived for several years in Colombia, 7 in Germany, and we have lived in about half the US, and visted most of Canada and Alaska as well as the rest of the lower 48. I spent ages 7-18 inStamford CT. Just thought I'd add that since so many others are from CT!
