Question What have you learned?

What have I learned in nearly 1000 posts?

A great deal.

I have been humbled by the kindness of others.

I have learned about what it means to support another.

I have developed a genuine appreciation for what it means to be an alcoholic.

I have met people and come to care about a great many of you.

I learned I can feel pain and empathy for those struggling.

I discovered that this is a universal issue expressed nearly identically all around the world.

I have had the opportunity to express pain and have that pain released through the dialogue that ensues.

I had what love and support I gave out come back to me ten fold.

I have learned to be kinder to myself.

But most of all I learned that it is possible to remain abstinent and live a fuller life.

What have you learned or surprised you to understand better since joining SR?

I've learned that alcoholism is a horrific disease that shows no mercy for anyone....And that it makes me truly happy to see people get a handle on it.
