Loser Re-Reading my Old Posts
Im feeling super down today - I know alcohol is a huge part of it - so I come back here and read older posts and I feel like such a loser. Same cycle over and over...I just really needed to vent...thank you for listening.....
Copper,
You are aware of the cycle and want to change - yes? That is good news. I know this advice is given regularly, but it holds true. In looking at your old posts, try to learn what you could add this time.....can't hurt Keep posting.

I don't think it helps to beat yourself up Copperfield - the past is done...we can;t change it.
We can change today tho...and through what we do today we can start to build the kind of future life that we want.
All any of us has is today and the chance to build something, so I don't think you're any worse off than anyone else here
Are you working on a plan, copperfield?

Don't waste yourself on feeling down too much. There is nothing to be gained by jumping down into the rabbit hole, stirring up guilt and shame.
Good to see you posting. Good to see you already understand you can do better for yourself. Awesome!

I think that is a great start Copperfield!
I haven't ever seen or heard of anybody tapering once they are alcoholic. You new approach is how I quit, one lifetime at a time.

Copperfield - Losers don't keep trying, they just lay down and admit defeat. You came back because you want a better life, and in your heart you know drinking is damaging you.
I think reading the old posts gives you valuable information. You are still learning, even though you've made mistakes. You can still get this right and leave your old, sad life behind. Please keep posting. Never give up.

I think it would be good for you...Commit to it...Do 90 meetings in 90 days...Find a sponsor...Read the book.....Work the steps....That's what this hopeless alcoholic did to get 15 months without a drink. It will work for you to.......It's simple....Not easy. Nothing good in life comes easy.
As long as you are here trying, you are not a loser. Be kind to yourself and get back on track, and I think your plan to stop drinking altogether, rather than limiting drinking is a great one.

I know that "over and over" cycle all to well. You can stop it. Believe in yourself, believe you can change for the better. See your plan for wellness through and do your best to practice it. You can live alcohol free.

I used to think like that. I suffered from the delusion that alcoholism was a moral failing or a willpower issue, and I kept believing that if I were a better person or a stronger person, I'd be able to overcome this. Thankfully, my solution to alcoholism required something much much bigger than all of that.
