It probably sounds pathetic but instead of sitting here full of anxiety and pain, I RANG SOMEONE IN AA! Only took me 9 months...and the strange thing is, I don't feel half as scared. I have never felt confident reaching out to people outside my meetings, and have had relapse after relapse. Maybe, God willing, I am starting to recognise it is the only way to beat this.

Doesn't sound pathetic to me....Sounds like a couragous move in the right direction...It's doing things we don't want to do that change starts to happen....Good for you!

Learning to reach out for help doesn not come easy. Especially so if you isolated in your alcoholism. Don't count this as a small victory. Celebrate it as a huge one because it's a big step. Learning to ask for help when you need it is a cornerstone of recovery. Congrats!
