Reading, I've not read so much for years.

Also I can write properly because my hands aren't all shaky

Clean clothes to choose from. Ten pair of clean underwear in my drawer.

Enjoying the art of carpentry and not being angry at work because I am hungover/want to be out drinking somewhere.

I notice a lot more with my dog now.

Like tonight, he leaned back on me and fell into a deep sleep and started dreaming. I could feel his eyes going back and forth beneath their "lids", as he slept on my arm, and he started sniffing like a madman and his legs were all tensed. It was quite intense. Dog dreams.

I love him. I was so mean when I drank. I screamed at him. : (

Dirty dishes in and around the kitchen sink are more the exception than the norm.

Is it weird that this thread made me teary? I am still in day one so maybe I am just overly emotional, but reading this has made me even more regretful of all I've missed drinking and afraid I'll never have it again. Part of me fears I will always feel like I do today.

I'm really glad for all of you and your success.

Not wierd at all Dogmamma. Regret and fear are all part of recovery. Posting here can help with them. So can AA. It provides the in person contact with other recovering alcohilcs I need.

I watched a spider weave a web outside. Normally I would have killed it, or not looked. But I watched the amazing spider work diligently and it was absolutely fascinating. I watched for several minutes soaking it all in.

Never would have done that when drinking.

How great it is to come home to a spotless room and bed made up right. No glass bottle surprises anywhere or finding a random fork or food wrapper or soda, not living like I belong in the woods anymore. My exs mother said I belonged in the woods when I drank.

I can actually remember conversations clearly.

I can also remember the story lines to my favorite tv shows I watched recently...

I enjoyed making brown rice with onions and peppers, little soy meatballs, gravy, and broccoli this afternoon and had it ready when my daughter got home. I felt like Awesome Mom.

Having my best friend visiting from Australia (for the second time) and finally getting us all to Niagara Falls for a great night away.

It really bothered me that I was too messed up and hungover the last time she was here. Feel fabulous that I was able to do that....also didn't mind one bit being a short order cook for her beautiful picky kids

Having a bowel movement is more like giving birth as opposed to watering the lawn.
