Getting a phone call or visit from my kids and being sober every time. I know how much it means to them. Every time I talk to or see them it makes me feel good and proud that I'm sober for them (and for me too - lol).

Every day there is something. Last night while waiting for the dog to finish outside I pressed my nose against the slider glass door and just enjoyed the cold sensation.

I would agree on the sense of humor. I have even received several comments from my nieces that are to the effect that I am back to my old self. They have no idea I had a drinking problem. They only saw that I had gone from a fun loving guy to someone who wasn't fun to be around.

I am only one day one of being sober but I actually enjoyed the sensation of eating....I felt hungry and satiated that desire with food!

Up on a Saturday morning and the sunrise in my street is so pretty that I took a picture..And the birds are alive and singing.like a chorus. They are not thinking of alcohol.
Me neither!

Who are you EQ, not hungover in bed, crying with a migraine?
Who are you and what have you done with the old EQ?
LOL

I live with 2 recovering roommates I met through my program of recovery. Recently we invited a 3rd recovering roommate to live with us. He has two young sons who stay with him on the weekends. Today I came home and saw the boys so I walked up to them and shook their hands and introduced myself.

I then realized that I no longer avoid children and I'm no longer scared that my presence is going to corrupt them because I am an addict/alcoholic.

I don't think that is necessarily a little thing, but I hadn't noticed that change before today.

I can put things back in their place now. If they don't have a place I can work on making a place. Or give it away.

I actually have discernment now.

The companionship of my SR friends--instead of shamefully avoiding SR when I knew I should be on here.

And WANTING to do things--like walk, ride my horse, and have sex.

I notice how unhappy people are who are addicted (to anything.) How they are controlled and not in charge of their life.

Really simple (LOL) but this morning I realized that for the longest time now the covers aren't all knotted and tangled when I wake up. Simple but lovely.
