My log book
When I got sober the first time. I started a little note book of things that made me happy. I referred back to it and added things from time to time.
I had kind of forgotten it until today. I am so glad I found it. I had my first relaps this month after 27 sober months. The recovery is hard but Looking back on what made me smile the first time really helped.
A few of the entries stuck out for me. :
The first morning I woke up feeling rested.
The first morning I woke up feeling rested an hungry!
Eating a bowl of cereal with milk and not feeling sick.
Sitting through a long movie without craving a drink.
The day I called I'm sick for work and was really sick!
The day I caught myself singing in the shower.
The list goes on. Anyone else?

Giggling with my daughter over silly things, and sharing quality time for her.
Spending an evening with friends, and really laughing and enjoying it. Not missing a drink.
Being able to pick up my teenage children from parties late in the evening because I'm sober.

Finally going to bed and not passing out.
Waking up and not coming to, and not thinking about a drink, or planning my day on drinking.
Just so so many.. I am so glad your back on the beam..
