14 Days today!

:a122:

Getting there!

Mind you, its been the longest 14 days ever! With that in mind I'm not going to count days anymore because it just does my head in!

I don't feel the need or even want to drink at the moment. My mind is still trying to convince that I'm not an alcoholic though! Whether I am or not its irrelevant really. I've decided that I'm not drinking anymore, that's it, nothing else. I don't know why I've done it, I don't know if I need to do it. One thing is for sure though, not drinking certainly wont do me any harm!

I have found that many people, myself included, get so bogged down questioning the motives and reasons of giving up drink. Half the stress of giving up comes from thinking too much about it. My advice, JUST DO IT, don't ask why or if or but etc etc just get on with it and go for as long as you can. When you are struggling or doubting yourself look for help or guidance on here or from close friends. One thing I have learnt, I'm not on my own! I don't have to suffer in silence when i have all you lot cheering me on!

Thanks all.

After you have given up drinking for a little while, people stop asking.

I agree Sneeker, overthinking it is too complicated. Keep it simple, don't drink today. Good for you!

Great Job! I remember when I couldnt go for more than an hour with out a drink neither less 14 days and now I have 15 mo. So keep doing it one day at a time and they will add up! The think about your mind-lol yep, after 15 months, sponsorship, meetings, and ect my mind still likes to think it can trick me into thinking im not an alchy. Difference is all I have to do is look back on my experience and theres no doubt that I am.

Keep up the great work!

Congrats on your 14 days!

And yes, you don't need to over-think the reasons. Just don't drink. That simple. Seems to work!

Great job. I'm in the same boat. I am a "functioning" alcoholic, but my mind keeps trying to convince me I don't have a problem, even though I know that I do. Great choice and keep it up! I'm right here with you.
