Awaiting the phone call....
As you may remember in one of my previous posts, my grandfather is very sick. Went into er presenting gall bladder issues. Surgery was last Monday night. Had to cut open, no laparoscope, gall bladder had perforated, was gangrene ans created a small hole in his small intestine. It's been a very long sad week. He has since developed pneumonia, his bowels won't wake up, might be twisted? Might have a stone blocking them.....cat scan scheduled for tomorrow morning. I got a phone call from my uncle tonight that it was bad. His breathing is terrible, very very loud and labored. he has a fever, he's tired and he's ready to give up. He told us tonight that he is telling the dr tomorrow morning that he wants unhooked from everything. Myself and rest of family just taking it hour by hour. I'm almost hoping that since we all left the hospital, that he will just let go and be reunited with my mother, who passed away 31 years ago, last Friday. I should really try to sleep right now, but my mind won't stop racing. Anyways, I just really needed to share this. Thanks for reading and I will keep you posted.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. No phone call through the night. Maybe he is responding well to positive air flow mask. Maybe the 20-30% of his heart that is functioning is stronger than we thought. Will know more soon. I'm praying for peace, in whatever form it should be. Thanks sr!
I'm so sorry that he's doing poorly, but it sounds like for now he's still fighting! Life never lasts long enough it seems, and none of us know what's going to take us out. The other day my grandpa said to me "I had no idea I would live this long! (88) If I would have known, I would have taken much better care of myself.". So true!

I remember waiting for the call about my grandmother. Her death was a much better thing than the end of her life. Alzheimer's had taken her mind years before, and there was no dignity left in her existence.
It's wonderful that your grandfather can decide his fate lucidly, and it would be even more wonderful for the people around him to let him know they accept it.
I wish that things may go as well as they can, and that you can celebrate no matter what may come.
