Ready, get set...GO!
Well, it's been an interesting couple of days. Wife ask me to stop drinking back in Feb. I said "yes dear". Didn't stop because surly I don't have a problem. So, I started to hide my drinking(no warning sign there). Well turns out I do have a problem, and I'm not real clever. Had too much to drink Saturday watching football and didn't even know she could tell. On Sunday she ask me to find somewhere else to live until I have a plan in place to get sober and stay that way. WAKE UP CALL! I have a wonderful wife of 17 years, and three great kids, I will not loose them over drinking. I WILL NOT! So you, my new friends, are part of my plan to get my life back on track. Today I bought three books on alcoholism and addiction. Tonight I will attend my first AA meeting. I look forward to your support, and adding my support to you. Good luck to all! Ready, Set, GO.... the race has just begun and the finish line is far. One day at a time.
Hi Leaf
Welcome aboard. You sound like you have a plan and made the first steps to implementing
Good luck at your AA meeting. Have just got back from my Monday meeting and you know that fellowship is amazing. IMO it is the silver lining of being an Alcoholic. AA and SR keep me motivated. The support and love (no I am not overplaying that emotion) I receive and hopefully give back is second to none
Good luck on you journey and keep posting

Leaf you sound a lot like me when I first came here. You came to the right place! Read read and post as much as you need or can. I did AA and here in my early sobriety and last week celebrated two years! I did it for myself because I had progressed to drinking scotch in my morning coffees and 30 more units before I passed out at night. I honestly believe it would have killed me by now had I kept drinking. From desperate and miserable with no hope to here was a journey I am proud of taking once, but never again.
Keep posting and take hope!

Welcome to our family, newleaf. We're so happy you've joined us. This is a wonderful place where you'll find encouragement and hope. I had been drinking all my life when I came limping in to SR - not really expecting much. My new friends here set me straight about many things. My loneliness left me - as well as my anxiety and fear of facing the world without my buffer. I found the strength to lay it down and begin a new life.
You can once again be in charge of your fate - alcohol will no longer rule. Congratulations on making this wise decision - you'll never regret getting your life back. Let us know how the meeting goes. You're off to a great start.

Welcome to SR and good for you for deciding to get your life back. Soon enough you'll be feeling all the benefits sobriety has to offer. Life sober really is fantastic. Looking forward to seeing you around the boards... please read and post as much as you like - it really does help.
