I Don't Think Drinking Helped My Health Any

Funny why that would be. Spent the day in bed with some virus or something. Wonder if alcohol can affect the immune system? I quess its easy to blame everything on booze. There are some little gnats flying around and I think DTs. They are just gnats. On the bright side feeling better and connected to SR. That is always good. Damn gnats.

it seemed like i was more susceptible to illness when i was drinking. either that or i was always in danger of withdrawal if i didn't keep up with my drinking schedule. either way, it's a lot better now. hope you get to feeling better soon Fitz. heck, even sober as i am now i had a stomach bug earlier this week that knocked me on my butt for a day and a half. no one is safe! blue gatorade and ice pops. that's all that gets me through when i'm ill.

yes, definitely alcohol can affect your immune system. If you do a google search you will find lots of articles. I felt a lot worse when I was drinking all the time, had lots of allergies, colds, generally felt more run down and tired. I hope you feel better soon!

The crazy thing is because I feel weak I'm listening to Stairway to Heaven and had a desire to light up, I haven't toked in more than 25 years. I can't take anything for granted. Still a great song. I just need to watch my mind. Maybe I should listen to some folk.

Aw Fitz, don't feel alone bud. I have caught myself several times weeping for my lost youth while listening to the music of my youth. You are OK, we all just need to make bucket lists and do the ones we can.

Try The Carpenters or some other really innocent music. Chatty Chitty Bang Bang brings a smile to my face -a time of innocence in my life
Barry Manilow. Ok, maybe not him

Yes, I do believe alcohol affects our immune systems.

In my first year of recovery I had pneumonia 9, yes 9 TIMES. I said to my doctor
at about number 6 or 7, "gee, my immune system must be down." He looked at
me with one of those 'stern' looks a Dr can give and said, "what immune system?"

Gulp. He was not kidding. As I stayed sober and ate healthy, I did get my immune
system back and for a long time was really quite healthy. Then ............... I
developed Diabetes and again said 'good-bye' to my immune system. rofl

It will get better Fritz, and you will find yourself NOT catching the current 'virus',
even when those around you are sick!

J M H O

Love and hugs,
