Living Situation

So I was supposed to move in with my friend who bought a house. It would be a great opportunity for me to save money for my own home while getting ahead on debt. (My lease where I am is up Nov 1 btw). The person I am supposed to be moving in with likes to party. She smokes pot and drinks quite often. I know I can't live there. I asked to meet with her for breakfast today to discuss my plans to get my own apartment. I know what to say but I don't if that makes sense. I am low on cash and moving into my own place will set me back but I know it will be the best thing for me mentally. Any advice on how to tell my friend? I may lose her once I tell her I am in recovery now but I guess that's what happens and my sobriety has to come first....

I would tell her that the most important thing in your life is recovery right now....And you just can't live being around alcohol and partying right now. A real friend wouldn't even question that.

That's true Sapling....when I was drinking I never even thought about having a drink around my friends in recovery. Hopefully she will understand and if not, that's ok too.

Just tell her the truth. If you lose her as a friend then she wasnt such a good friend anyway. Have a good day and let us know how it went.
