Withdrawals and Kindling

I began drinking at 18 and mostly binge drank for 10 years. It's become an almost daily thing over the past 7-8 months. Now, I've started going through mild withdrawals, especially after binge drinking. The withdrawals have become worse in the past 6 weeks or so. I planned on a sober weekend but drank today/tonight and am anticipating another 3-4 day withdrawal. This is simply miserable. Has anyone else done this before? And if so, how did you deal with it?

I understand kindling as well - I know this is destroying my mind, body, and (if it exists) soul.

Yes, hardcore binge drinker here too... well not anymore ;-)

I understand the hangovers & kindling, its scary. I used to think that my binge drinking was somehow less dangerous than those that drank every day... lots of doctors/reports say its worse. For me I just couldn't take all of the pain & torment anymore... I mean really, is it worth it.

I had to change everything I did, including many friends... but its all good now. Stay close to SR and seriously consider working a progam of some kind (AA, Smart, Rational Recovery, AVRT etc.) Or take a bit of all of them like I did ;-)

Glad to have you with us BP

I was a all day everday drinker, I had withdrawls start everyday..

I am so blessed that I dont live that life anymore. When I go to bed each night instead of passing out. I thank my hp for being sober today.. I swear each night that is when it hits home every time. That this life is so so so much better..

Welcome aboard, you landed into a great place...

Oh God do I understand... but you got it. Breaking the cycle is where it all begins, I had to eventually come to the conclusion that I can never drink alcohol again. But man did I try & try & try.... Eventually could not take the pain & torture anymore.

Breaking the cycle.. an album name that reminded me of this song, I have related it to my drinking cycle in the past. Here it is ;-)

welcome bp

It is hard breaking the cycle - but you'll find a lot of support here.
I can recommend our current monthly thread for those quitting in September:

Withdrawal is tough and sometimes can be problematic for some of us - if you feel poorly, I recommend seeing a Dr.
