Just had first AA meeting

Hello everyone I just been to my first AA meeting and didn't know what to think at first because I'm not really good at socialising with others so sitting in a room full of strangers I was very uncomfortable and I think it showed lol. But after the speaker told his story and while everyone was going round telling their story I could ABSOLUTELY relate to what they was saying so I started to feel a bit more comfortable and thought to myself these people are actually in the same boat as me and there's no need to feel uncomfortable. and to think I wasn't going to turn up tonight and just go get a couple of bottles. And I have already made a friend and I'm meeting him there again Tuesday night. So at the minute its 3 days sober and first AA meeting done, so far so good

Hi Dan,

So glad you went to a meeting instead of the carry out. Good on you for the 3 days.

Awesome so glad you went through with it... That is all it took, just walking in and sitting down. Now you know your right where you are supposed to be...

Enjoy your evening ...... Great first step

We drink ourselves to a point that we feel we are the lowest person on the planet. There is nothing like sitting in a room full of strangers..That are exactly like you.

Great Dan - be proud of yourself. You have made a brilliant start on your journey.

I felt a lot like you after my first AA meeting. It felt like 'coming home'. The 'all alone'
feeling was lifted. I was in a place of people that understood me without me having to explain. I have made friends and keep going back
Good luck on with your sober journey.

This warms my heart. To hear you were able to identify with others and know your not alone. I'm so happy you went.
