Ready this time.
Yep, just like many others now it my time.
I am looking forward to my new life.
For 30 years I've been abusing myself by my drinking.
I'm mostly a closet drinker, late at night, weekends etc...
Not everyday, but everyother day.
Feeling worn out, sometimes depressed, ashamed feelings, are common with me. I'm somewhat sucessful, still have my job, car and many things to be thankful for. I've had a few DUI's(2), last one about 10 years ago. Mainly because I controlled and limited my drinking until I was home.
I fortunate to have great friends (I've been single for the past 2 years).
I've been lurking on the site for the past 2 months and have admitted, I am powerless. This is my third day off the booze and I know in my heart, The party is over for me. Though it never was really a party.
I happy to have found this site. For me, it's a start.
Thank you!

Welcome to SR. You are in the right place.
Towards the end, my drinking was all done in isolation too. My behaviour had just got too reckless and downright dangerous to be out. After a few hospital visits due to alcohol related injuries, I actually thought I was being sensible by staying at home to drink.....oh the insanity of it all!!
The support I get here and at AA has kept me sober for almost 4 months.
I cannot begin to explain how different my life is now.
You have accepted that enough is enough, and that's the best footing for a great recovery.
Keep posting and good luck to you x
