Anxious about rehab :/

So I have to wait for a few places to call me back to see if there are any beds available for detox today. I barely slept last night because of withdrawal symptoms. Had to tell my boss why I would be out all week and some of my friends. This is really happening and it's so scary. There's no turning back now though and that is a good feeling. If I can't get in anywhere today my plan is to see my general dr to help me. Thanks for listening, this is all very overwhelming.

Quit... I understand. I remember telling my boss I would be out a whole month so I could "go away" for a while. I did not have to tell him why by law but I did. And I was scared to death of the judgement... Of if I could do it... If they were going to understand me once I got there....if...if...if...

And you know what?

My boss respected me and was behind me. Wow.

The people at rehab really understand me... More than me.

My friends... Mixed bag... Some lost some stronger. All still what I needed.

You could not be doing any more to help yourself....

Now let other help you as well.

Rehab is not scary when you are there. Its a safe place to be and you will hopefully feel comfort.

You can do it!!

My best to you!

Everything is going to fine quitforme79...Once you get in there you'll be in good hands and you'll feel safe...And relief. Try not to worry about it too much...I know I did and it's easy to say....But I can promise you....I worried for nothing and it was what I needed to commit myself to ending that misery. Keep an open mind...Learn everything you can....You'll meet some awesome people...That work there and also that are there for the same reason you are. Deep breath and take it easy....One day at a time. Let us know how you're doing.....We're here for you quitforme79! You will do this!

If you can't get into detox or your general doc, go to the ER. They should be able to do something to help.

Thanks so much guys. I am sure I will meet some great people. And you're right weasel, I know my boss is supportive but I don't want to be looked at like a ticking time bomb. All of these negative thoughts are better than continuing to kill myself though....I just want to get there so I can start to feel better and get the help I need. I think the anticipation is the worst of all.

Always....It's one thing we alcoholics are good at doing....I remember my first AA meeting.....I might as well have been going to the gas chamber.

I'll tell you one thing about when I detoxed....I don't remember much of it...It was five days and I slept through most of it.

Good for you! Bravo! I am so happy to hear this. I went to rehab. I was scared. Once I was in the hands of the professionals all the fear melted away. Cant wait to hear how it went. Your doing the right thing!

It will. You are making one of the best decisions that you can possibly make. One foot in front of the other. You'll be in good hands.
