Alcohol disrupts normal sleep cycles. It takes time to retrain the brain to work normally again. Sleep will come in time. |
I have insomnia too. Someone told me that their opinion of insomnia is that it usually means there's something bothering you - in my case it's usually extra work I need to do or a problem I need to journal out. 7/10 times if I get out of bed and take care of whatever is bothering me I'm able to fall asleep faster than I would have if I'd stayed in bed trying to sleep. The other 3/10 times I watch old movies or read and wait it out. |

I have had chronic insomnia since I was a teen. One of the reasons I started drinking regularly was to deal with the anxiety that keeps me awake and turn off my brain so I could pass out. I have noticed that even getting just a few hours of normal sleep and being tired the next day is better than passing out and waking up with a raging hangover. |
