Another Day 1
ehhh...well maybe I will try again...feel like such a loser to keep having "day 1". I want it but then in some weird way I don't - like I want to stay as a loser...maybe its just lack of self confidence, or Im just scared I will fail again...anyway, we'll see what the day brings me.
Thanks for listening SR.

Copper.... I have had 365 day 1 s in a row sometimes.... But as I learned one day I made it to day two... And so on. The fact we keep trying is what matters... Not how many day ones we had.
So glad you are here and willing to try again.
It's also ok to be honest enough with yourself to say I am not sure. Ambivilance was part of it for me. It took me a long time, years, to come to the full decision. I hope you do that sooner than I did.
You can stay sober!

The ball is in your court..
It has noting to do with luck, self-esteem, or confindece.. Its a matter if you have the desire...
Try a AA meeting and then the next day try another one.. It cant hurt can it ?

Hi,
I've done AA before and yes it helps. Today I have to work all day and then I have a rehearsal tonight so I can't attend one. My hope/plan for today is to not have a drink in between work and rehearsal and to go home right after rehearsal.

Try?
Copperfield, if this was your first post, I'll be less harsh. But your struggle has been ongoing.
First, your views about your drinking need a major overall. Accept you can't drink.
Second, whatever you've been doing to stay sober, isn't working. Go back to the drawing board. Listen to the advice of others that are suggesting various recovery methods. Be willing to do ANYTHING, to get and stay sober.
Do, don't try.

After 12 days I'm back to day one also it's going to be a long battle if I let it become a battle but to be honest I will break it this time we just need to believe a little more in ourselves I guess. Over those 12 days I did actually change my route home and didn't bypass a shop I think that helped so back to day one and counting....we can do this

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.

This quote keeps me going in the direction I want to go.
I hope it can inspire you too.

It would seem that what you need to focus on is your sobriety
It's pretty much a guaruntee - Keep drinking ... you won't have to work anymore cause you won't have a job, nor will you have anything to rehearse
Today I have to work all day and then I have a rehearsal tonight so I can't attend one
Welcome back Copperfield (you too clearhead)
some of the advice here might seem harsh - but it's really not.
If you want change - you need to makes changes Copperfield.
I hope you'll think on what you're prepared to do to stay sober
Action is the key

You can "see what the day brings" copperfield, or you could decide what the day brings. We are in control of our own actions. We can wake up in the morning and wonder whether we will drink today, or we can wake up and say we will NOT drink today. We can hope to live a sober life, or we can decide to live a sober life. There is a huge difference.
You can have a thousand Day 1s, nobody is going to think badly of you. But what we think of you means nothing. If you feel like a loser, then you should want to change that for YOU, not for anybody else. Most people are afraid of the unknown. I'd say that pretty much everyone here was scared at some point in the beginning. Don't be scared that you'll fail again. Believe that you won't.
Also, quitting alcohol will do wonders for your self confidence. And that's a promise.
