95 days into it and...need ideas and a introduction, of myself
Hello all, big 95 today. New on here. Hoping to meet some great people. Also I am curious if any of you have any ideas on things...activities on,what all activities one can do sober.don't really hang with the old crowd ever and seems most off my activities involved the negatives of my past.
Welcome to SR Shaunarose!... WOW 95 days. Thats a whole lot more than me. Love to be there someday. Congrats.
What can't you do sober. Run, swim, life weights, go to movies, yoga
Have you made new friends in the past 3 months? Do you have a family? Are you in school?
Jim

I think there are some threads or stickies that list over 100 things to do. Someone here will likely know how to link to that.
For me, I'm about to sign up for some evening classes at a local tech center. Just intersting stuff. I also like to think back to the things I enjoyed doing before drinking. Go all the way back to childhoop or high school. You'll likely still enjoy some of those. I flew a kite not too long ago and loved it! LOL
I also like to add a variety of excercise and work outs. The whole routine of contributing to my health goes hand-in-hand with my decision to not drink so that is a good cycle for me to develop.
I fully support your idea of new friends and new activities. Sounds like you are serious about this new sober lifestyle. Congratulations!

Congrats on your 95 days, Shauna.
I had to let go certain friendships and social relationships when I got sober, because they frequently involved happy hours (a true misnomer), kegs, shooters, etc.
But God has never closed a door in my life without opening a much greater and more rewarding one.
I am glad to have you sober and with us.
I am sober as a result of God and AA (which is an instrument of God), but I have a lot of pastimes which keep me busy.
I buy and download (legally, of course) a lot of music, I read a lot of books, and I go to concerts (country, rock and orchestral), car races and football and baseball games.
I also work hard and spend a lot of time with my wife and our pets.
I have a full life now and I sure don't miss the old days or being sick all the time.
Please stay with us and your sobriety.

Hi, shauna. Congrats on your 95 days; that is awesome! I will tell you what I like to do: read, cook, tend to my five pet chickens (OK, this one might not work for you ) and watch movies and actually remember them afterwards!
Welcome to SR ShaunaRose - congratulations on 95 days
Here's the list someone mentioned - it might generate some ideas

Congrats on 95 days! "don't really hang with the old crowd," you say? Sounds like you might be getting lonely!
For something social: Is there a rec league in your area? As one harbouring traumatic memories of elementary-school gym class, I was terrified of these but found there are oodles of friendly, non-athletic people in the bottom tier of the rec league. You don't need to be athletic, and you probably don't even need to know anybody already: you can often sign up as a "single" and join a team, or go to drop-in.
Another idea is volunterring somewhere. My wise grandmother is convinced people would be a lot happier if they spent less time fretting and obsessing about their own problems and spent more time thinking about others. Makes people feel good to do good. (It works - I tried it!).
Best wishes and welcome to SR!
