Hey! I'm new

I can't really believe I have really joined this site. I need help getting sober, but am not the most outgoing person. However, my family means everything to me & I'm failing them big time. Despite feeling constantly guilty about my drinking, I cannot stop for anything or anyone. I just don't know what to do. I am thankful for all I have, yet continue to destroy it.

Welcome, Marley! 15 days ago I joined this site and found tremendous support to start down my road of sobriety. You have come to the right place. Oh, and I'm also not outgoing...AT ALL...and I find these forums to be an extremely comfortable place to share triumphs and sorrows. Keep posting, keeping coming back, keep keeping on!

Welcome Marley Your not alone anymore. I am introvert too. You took a huge first step by reaching out. That takes a tremendous amount of courage. The best advice I can give is to truly take it one day at a time and stay on SR.

Hi and Welcome,

The feelings of guilt and hopelessness are common so don't be discouraged. There is lots of hope and we are here to offer support.

My suggestion is to get rid of alcohol in the house and don't buy anymore. Change your daily routine so that you are doing something else at the time you'd normally be drinking. Support is important, so I hope you keep reading and posting.

Welcome to SR Marley!

To be honest, I was unable to stop drinking until I came here... getting support is vital I think. Join the Class of September, go to AA or check out AVRT... all these things really do help.

Glad you're here x

Hi Marley. Day one for me as well. I know what you mean about not being outgoing. I always feel so out of place socially. I used to drink to be more sociable but that turned into just wanting everyone would go away so I could drink alone as much as I wanted.
Good Luck

Pleased to meet you, marley. I drank all my life, but SR helped me turn it all around. I didn't think anyone could help me, but knowing I wasn't alone made all the difference. Welcome to a great place - we're here to help.
