the shakes

I feel like my hands are never going to stop shaking. I'm on day 40 of sobriety today and just spilled half a box of cereal all over the place because my hands are shaking like leaves. I've mentioned it to my doc, and they just keep saying it will go away in time. It's a LOT better than it was 30 days ago of course, but I just want it to go away for good. Anyone have any input, suggestions, etc?

Talking to another dr might be something to consider, too.

I used to shake so badly I needed two hands to drink a cup of coffee. The shakes on my right hand sorta got cancelled out by the shakes on my left hand. I can remember now my hands shaking 20 years ago, but it got so bad in the months before I stopped drinking that eating a bowl of soup was something I only ever wanted to attempt in private.

Now? I can extend my hand full in front of my face and watch it be rock solid. No tremor, no movement in the least. It will come, BJames, stay the course.

I'm glad someone else asked this. I thought I was on the mend but got the shakes again today. I'm not sure if it's a cos of my erratic eating, or if Im still withdrawing (I'm on day13) but the shakes seem to come and go :-( I hoped they'd be gone by now.

Hang in there my friend! It was similar with me... it was a solid 3 months until I felt that the shakes had gone away. Unfortunately even now I get them from time to time but nothing like when I was drinking. High blood pressure creates "shakes" so anything that you can do to lower it will help as well! Less salt, sugar, cigarettes and of course adding exercise!

God bless!
