If you don't drink beer, wine, alcohol; what do you drink?

Diet or regular tonic water, lime, and dash of bitters. I know it has alcohol in it, but I've never had a problems with using a dash. For my birthday, the bartender at the restaurant made me one with elderberry syrup. Woah! I love coffee and tea socially as well.

Diet Pepsi has got me through the first 5 weeks. I know it's bad for you and am already reducing intake, but way better than 4 strong lagers , bottle of red and a whiskey night cap each night. You just have to find your own drink. I actually find getting in from work and drinking 2 pints of ice cold diet Pepsi removes craving for lager. Strange, I think my brain has been asking for hydration or food at 4pm plus but I have interpreted this as " I need a drink"

Nice suggestions.

The ones that I will take are the water with fruit in them, or infused water. I already do this I love cucumber the best.

Tonic/Sparkling water I like! They have the fizz of soda/beer but you can add things to it. I am thinking of adding dandelion tea to it; has bitterness to it that will get my bitter fix of hops. Dandelion tea, in Chinese Medicine, is supposed to be good for the liver.

I enjoy various tea and will try some of your favorites listed here

Ummmm ginger ale and root beer, I do enjoy them but will limit them to special occasions.

At the moment I have to stay away from caffeinated beverages as they damage my still sensitive ulcers (accidentally drank a tea at Starbucks with caffeine, was not good!). I do enjoy V8 and spicy foods but for the same reasons as the caffeine I have to stay away.

@Indamiracle, I can relate. I could tell you so much about a style, variety, the brewery of a beer, and now I chose to stay away. I do enjoy beer, but I lost control, created bad habits, and now I am taking my life back.

@Pigtails, I will keep your suggestions for the various locations.

Thanks again, and I hope others seeking substitutions for the time being can learn from this thread. If other come by with more suggestions keep them coming

I'm on my 11th day of sobriety. I have mainly been drinking:
Water (like someone else said, to repair some of the damage to my liver)
Juice, orange and pineapple are winners for me
Passionfruit rubicon
Coffee, Tea fruit tea.

My friend who is 13 years sober told me that whatever I do, don't drink 'fake' alcohol. It will just remind us of alcohol and then lead us into temptation. So no non-alcoholic cider for me. I've found diet coke a bit of a danger for me too, because I was a big whiskey and coke fan.

Try new things, just drink as many fluids as you can. I hope you find something that works for you!

Water for me. At work I drink it boiled with a slice of lemon or lime. Peppermint tea or fruit teas are good too

Crystal Geyser - Juice Squeeze

As a FORMER (yea!) Beer drinker I really enjoy these. They come in several flavors and are 70% Fruit Juice and 30% sparkling water. They are $3.99 per 4 pack or a little cheaper at Trader Joe's.

I also have been enjoying Vitamin Water and lots of plain water.

Great thread.... I was just thinking of posting this earlier!

If I am out and someone asks my drink order, I order Cranberry and club with a lime, it"s festive and refreshing... Sometimes the alcohol drinkers try it and prefer it! I know I prefer it now! And it is cheaper too!

Also...i.have heard some people say that they carry their beverage with them or carry bottled water. I think in the summer when youre not sure what theyll have at picnics etc that this is an especially good idea. No fuss, just take it out. In early sobriety do whatever helps you stay on track!

Tons of water during the day, but also unsweetened iced tea, diet pepsi with a wedge of lime, in cooler weather hot chocolate, tea.

Juice, water, tea, tea and more tea. My favourite at the mo is liquorice and mint tea. If I want a cold drink with a meal it tends to be a diet coke or a J20, partially the papaya punch flavour.

YES!! Those are so delicious!! Not ginger ale, that is a pale ghost of ginger beer, or as I now call it, ginger brew. I tried making my own and it actually turned out great! Fresh ginger, lime, sugar, chili flakes and soda water equals unparalleled deliciousness!!

I drink soda water or sparkling water with lime. Anything resembling a virgin mohito/ceasar/margarita, etc..is too close to the real thing for me. Even non-alcoholic beer or wine are too close.
