TOPIC: Recovery Is Definitely A Challenge But Not Impossible To Achieve
Hi, im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.
While getting my backyard back to normal
after Hurricane Isaac came thru our city
a few days ago, I put my mind to work
thinking about my own recovery for the
past 22 yrs. and what can I come here to
Soberrecovery to share with you.
Like many who come here to share their
own experiences, strengths and hopes of
what life has been like before, during and
after drinking or using, I too began with
day one learning how to stay sober one
day at a time.
From the beginning when I was diagnoised
as an alcoholic and given the tools and knowledge
to help me learn to stay sober, I had a gut
feeling that my journey was gonna be a
challenge and eventually learned that it
wouldnt be impossible to stay sober as
long as I used all that I learned in my everyday
life and affairs.
Each sober breath I have taken, each change
that I have made, each challange that I have
conquered has made me stronger, more humbled,
honest, forgiving, caring, less resentfull, selfish,
a continued teachable and accepting in my life.
My journey and life is not over by a long shot, well
as far as I know, ....that job is in the hands of my
Higher Power or the Man upstairs to decide. So
until the clock stops ticking for me, I remain
responsible in my own recovery by passing on
the tools and knowledge that was so freely passed
on to me over the years to others that are still
struggling with addiction.
Whatever I did today, from the moment I woke
up at 3am, remembering to say please help me
stay sober, watch over me, protect me, guide me,
to the moment I lay my head down to sleep,
remembering to say thank You for keeping me
sober and forgive me if I offended You in anyway,
Good nite and I Love You, then repeat it all over
again tomorrow if I am granted a another new
sober day always doing Your will and not mine.
Im pretty sure if I continue on my path in recovery
continueing to do what I am suppose to do each
day to stay sober, then my future will be another
wonderful gift and blessing.
It can be for you too.
